The game of life has its ups and downs, sadly, we never know when the pendulum will swing one way versus another. Try as we might to influence these fluctuations, we often can’t and it is then down to how we deal with them that we are judged by. We want life to be a marathon not a sprint but we don’t always get that choice. The burning question is; how do we successfully deal with the twists and turns that life brings us in order to ensure we stay on track to whatever vision we have for ourselves, and for those we care for most?
A new attitude to growth might help!
In my professional life, three words drive the approach that I share with others; Accountability, Growth, Focus. The latter you would expect from me as it’s what I spend much of my time on, but in my view the other two are just as critical. Whatever game we are in, it would be fair to say that we are almost certainly expecting growth from the experience, financially, spiritually, and personally.
If we are to be true to that ambition, we need to make ourselves accountable. We cannot expect others to make it happen for us, tempting as that may be. We need to make ourselves personally responsible.
Time to ‘level up’!
According to Urban Dictionary, to ‘level up’ is to make a move in your life or career for the better. It makes sense to me. We talk a lot about ‘levelling up’ in the Thought Leaders Global community and are actively encouraged by our Founder, Matt Church, to do so at every opportunity. We are all on a mission to play a bigger game and to help others do the same – success breeds success and conspicuous growth has an amazing effect on building team momentum.
To ‘level up’ is to truly grow
The great thing about ‘levelling up’ is the creation of new habits. Once you’ve reached a new level, the old modus operandi becomes obsolete and you adopt your new way of working. Your ‘mindfulness’ also kicks in as you become aware of just how much more you are capable of, and you never go back.
Now that’s a good reason to stay focused.
