Not enough time?

When we aim high our appetite for work often goes up, we want more and we expect we’ll have to do more to reach new goals, so we’re up for it. Of course the number of hours in the day doesn’t change, so what do we do? Inevitably, we need to create new habits to improve productivity so we start searching for ways to get more done. Productivity though, doesn’t necessarily mean doing more.

Folding time could be the panacea!

Neen James, an Australian partner of Thought Leaders Global, and Productivity Expert living in the United States, says “folding time is taking half as long to achieve twice the results”. Neen is an amazing speaker, author and mentor, known as an “energiser bunny” at conferences and one of the most sought after speakers in America on productivity. She is the master of helping people find success through doing less not more, and we can learn a lot from the approach she shares in her book Folding Time.

Neen’s message is “you don’t have time to do everything, only time to do what matters”. Do that and we can spend more time on the things we want to do. That of course is the main objective of the game we are all playing – freedom to do the things we dream of and work so hard for.

To fold time is to focus

Folding time is a conscious decision and it’s empowering. You don’t, or won’t do it unless you are focused on a key goal, and you make a major commitment to yourself to do that. It’s your decision, you are responsible for making it happen and taking ownership of it, which means you find a way to achieve it.

What folding time does for you is challenge your old work habits and help you work smarter not harder, on only the things that matter – that’s got to be a better way to work. Where do you sit with all this? Still trapped in the old ways and looking to do lots more in the same amount of time? It’s time to break that cycle and regain the clear focus that folding time provides, Neen’s book shows us how.

Stay focused.
