When it comes to business particularly, I can only surmise it is consumed by other priorities, and that can be SO frustrating.
Recently I have been watching a scenario develop where time seems to be consumed at an even more rapid rate than usual. Not everything that needs to get done is getting done, or at least not in the desired time frame, and I can see why.
It's due mainly to the pressure of the time, and inefficiency forced on the business through poor systems or lack thereof.
It's challenging for most Australian companies in the middle of the year, but I think there's more to it than that.
EOFY has passed, but it doesn't feel like it as the urgency of current sales promotional activity makes it seem like we're still back in June, not hurtling through September. Half the year is gone and we are scrambling again to see what either the new year brings, or how we're going to make the calendar year budget.
And now we're stressed with time again! So what's the answer?
Could it be delegate to elevate?
When you find yourself in the same position, month after month, year after year, something has to change. And one answer is "more hands to the pump". We need more people doing more things, more of the time.
So why don't we do it?
Fear of letting go can be the main cause. "Nobody can do this better than me and I'm not ready to let go of it yet anyway" is common. Or "I'll do it quicker anyway so I may as well do it myself", or "everyone else is busy so I'll just get it done" is an easy out.
Sound familiar?
If it does you have a time pressure problem. I know I do and I have to constantly re-invent how I work to make sure that I am as time efficient as I can be. And today, there should be no excuses for continually improving how my life works, in business and personally, to serve what I want to do more of. I have great support, Michelle, Claude, Perplexity and Chat are there to help me, and others, so I just have to level up.
Love to hear your thoughts on this and what has worked for you.
